Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has said people from all classes and professions will be benefited under the work plan adopted by the government to fight the adverse effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the country economy.
The minister made the remark after Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina unveiled a total incentive package of Tk72,750 crore, at a press conference at Ganabhaban in Dhaka on Sunday.
He also said the country’s economy will make a rebound if the government’s incentive plans are implemented.
“People of all classes and professions will get the benefit of the incentive packages. Farmers, weavers, fishermen, and people from all professions will be brought under the plan,” he told the press conference.
Saying that the entire world was now gripped by the coronavirus pandemic, the minister also said: “We do not know how long will this (pandemic) remain. Not only Bangladesh, but the global economy has been affected by it. It will also have an impact on Bangladesh’s economy. But, we will stand beside every person in such a situation.”
He also said last month, Bangladesh’s growth rate was at 8.19%.
“A large portion of our growth comes from export, especially through remittance. Bangladesh will remain in a better position compared to other countries even if there is a decrease our growth due to the coronavirus situation,” he added.
