DNCC Market traders rummaging through rubble

Asked, fire service officials told reporters today morning that it was the responsibility of police to cordon off the area and keep the traders away.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police officials preferring to be anonymous said traders’ leaders permitted them to enter the area and rummage through the rubble. The officials declined to talk further, saying that addressing the media is the DMP press wing’s assignment.DNCCmarket2DNCC Kitchen Market Association’s chairman Sher Mohammad said they cannot take a hard line and bar the traders from doing so as they are disenchanted, having lost their valuables in the devastating fire.
