Dhaka Metropolitan Police officials preferring to be anonymous said traders’ leaders permitted them to enter the area and rummage through the rubble. The officials declined to talk further, saying that addressing the media is the DMP press wing’s assignment.

After visiting the spot again in the morning, DNCC Mayor Annisul Huq assured the traders of making an arrangement soon in the open space in front of the fire-gutted market for them to temporarily run their businesses.
