“We have already invited expressions of interest (EoIs) from three companies who have worked on gas sector with Petrobangla,” Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Limited (BGFCL), a subsidiary of the state-owned Petrobangla, Managing Director Md Kamruzzaman told the Dhaka Tribune yesterday.
On November 6, the Energy and Mineral Resources Division instructed Bangladesh Oil and Gas Corporation (Petrobangla) to appoint an international consultancy firm in this regard.
However, Chevron has not officially informed Petrobangla about the sale of rights to the assets in the gas fields, said a Petrobangla official.
Chevron Bangladesh, a subsidiary of US-based oil giant Chevron, operates Bibiyana, Jalalabad and Moulvibazar gas fields in Bangladesh and is planning to sell its shares off, according to several reports.
