Jahangir replaces Sakhawat as home adviser

Sakhawat Hossain has been given the charge of the Textiles and Jute ministry

Home Adviser to the interim government Brigadier Gen (retd) Sakhawat Hussain has been replaced by Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.

The interim government on Friday brought some changes to its advisory council.

Sakhawat Hossain has been given the charge of the Textiles and Jute ministry, according to a statement issued by the chief adviser's Press Wing.

Jahangir Alam, former director general of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), is one of the four new advisers sworn in on Friday afternoon.

With the redistribution of responsibilities from the existing advisers to the interim government, the portfolios of the newly sworn-in four advisers were announced.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oaths to the new advisers.

Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary of the interim government's chief adviser, gave this information.

The new advisers are Wahiduddin Mahmud, an economist who was an adviser to the 1996 caretaker government, Ali Imam Majumdar, former cabinet secretary who was appointed as special assistant to this interim government's chief adviser on August 12, Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, former power secretary, and Lt Gen Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
