At least 20 people, including one teacher, were injured after a clash broke out between the students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) and the university unit Chhatra League on Monday.
The injured students were taken to the university's medical centre.
The quota reform protesters brought out a procession in front of the university library at 7pm When the procession reached Battala at 7:30pm, it encountered a procession of Chhatra League from the opposite direction, leading to a clash between the two groups.
The injured include five female students, acting teacher of the university's transport office Prof Awlad Hossain, and coordinators of the student movement Abdur Rashid Jitu, and Jahidul Islam.
As of the writing of this report at 8:30pm, the clash is still ongoing.
