Bangladesh Railway plans to add an extra 162 passenger coaches to trains considering the significant increase in passenger numbers during Eid trips, with the rail transport agency on Tuesday saying that tickets for these carriages can be purchased online 12 hours before train departure.
According to Bangladesh Railway, there are 60 broad-gauge and 102 meter-gauge coaches among the additional coaches.
In line with the decision of BR, these coaches will be added to trains across the country according to allocation.
Homebound train trips for the Eid-ul-Azha started on Wednesday, with Bangladesh Railway already having sold them online earlier this month.
