A student of this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from Sylhet education board drowned in a pond before she was even able to receive her results.
The deceased has been identified as Muntaha, and she obtained GPA 5 in this year's SSC examinations.
She was a student at a local school named Gotatikor Dimukhi High School.
A local journalist Abdul Hasib said that Munhata went to meet some of her friends at around 11am on Monday. After returning home, she went to a pond to wash her feet and slipped.
After the SSC results were published at around 12pm, Muntaha's family could not find her anywhere.
However, at one point, one of her used sandals was seen floating on the pond.
After a while, the body floated too, and it was taken to a hospital where doctors declared her dead.
The Sylhet education board recorded a 78.02% pass rate on average in this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and its equivalent examinations.
The students under the board participated in the examinations following one of the most devastating floods in recent history.
