11 artistes have been killed when a maxi van carrying a cultural troupe collided head-on with a truck at Dhupdhora along National Highway 37 in lower Assam's Goalpara district early Wednesday morning.
The accident took place around 5am when the cultural troupe was returning to Guwahati after performing at a function in Matia, Goalapara district on Tuesday night, quoting police, The Hindu reported.
Police said, while eight including a young singer Suman Mahanta died on the spot, three others succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.
The cultural troupe included Bihu dancers, police added.
