An 80-foot long tunnel has been discovered along India-Bangladesh border in north Bengal by the Border Security Force (BSF).
Suspected cattle smugglers dug the tunnel through a tea garden located in Chopra region of West Bengal's North Dinajpur district.
BSF found the tunnel during searches by the force along the 4,096 km border shared with Bangladesh, reports the NDTV.
BSF Deputy Inspector General Devi Sharan Singh at the BSF's sector headquarters in Kishanganj said the smugglers were digging the tunnel under the fence for a long time.

When contacted, Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) Syhlet Sector Commander Col Abdullah Al Mamun told the Dhaka Tribune: “We were not aware of it. We are looking into the matter.”
In March, BSF detected another tunnel at the depth of 20-25 foot in Meghalaya; it was about 200 metres from the border fence.
Over the last 20 years, the BSF has discovered more than half a dozen instances of terrorists or drug traffickers digging a tunnel along the border with Pakistan.
