Taiwan Minister of Foreign Affairs Lin Chia-lung thanked the US on Friday for the support expressed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio the previous day.
Lin thanked the US for “its continued support and valuing of peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.”
Rubio told NBC News on Thursday that US policy toward Taiwan remains unchanged and it would be a “terrible mistake” for China to take Taiwan by force.
The US is Taiwan’s biggest unofficial supporter and main supplier of arms for the island’s defense.
“As a responsible member of the international community, Taiwan will continue to strengthen its self-defense capabilities,” Lin said.a
