I finally took the step and started my own business! I chose to run a “Doggy and Me” treat cookie-sale. The business was to sell dog treats and nut-free olive oil cookies.
We worked hard on the poster and we had to bake all the cookies we looked to sell. We wrapped up the cookies and the dog treats in nice presentable bags.
We realized that it was Easter, so no one might come. But we set up the cookie-sale anyway. My big sister and I waited and waited ... finally, some people arrived! But sadly they didn’t have any cash on them. They claimed they would come back, but they never did.
I was starting to get worried. Soon, someone came in the car and ... sold! We got our first customer. They bought two cookies for $4. Pretty soon we had $12 in revenue.
Who knew running a cookie-sale could be so tiring, but also so fun?
By then my big sister was getting tired and suggested that we should wrap up. I didn’t want to, but I gotta listen to my older one. So we packed up and went in.
Mom saw my disappointment and let me go try again by myself. My real goal was for someone to buy dog treats, because no one had done so until then.
A biker came, and bought another $4 worth, but he only bought “human cookies.” Then, our next-door neighbour came and paid for one online. $6 so far. She was very nice and encouraging of my business.
After a long day of waiting, some people in a car stopped and I was wondering if this could be it, the moment I had been waiting for. Success! They bought dog treats.
Having tasted success, I wrapped up and I ate a cookie myself. Who knew running a cookie-sale could be so tiring, but also so fun? We made $22 that day. Not bad for my first try at business.
