One fine morning, Leila woke up with her lucky crochet hook. It was violet with a heart that was pink. Leila loved to crochet, and everyone wanted her to crochet something for them.
Leila was also in a crochet club. Leila exclaimed, “I must crochet even more! So much that I would have a gallery!”
Even though she was so excited, her teacher said to take it slow. One day, a new student came, and her desk was right next to Leila’s. Her hair was blonde and thick, she wore a pink beanie, and freckles filled her cheeks, unlike Leila’s hazel hair and bucket hat on her head.
Ms Sung, the teacher, said, “Class, meet Charlotte, the new student from Germany. Charlotte, would you like to say anything to the class?”
Charlotte answered, “Yes. Hello everyone! I knit, and I am glad to be here!”
Leila thought, “Is everyone going to ask her to knit for them? I have a hunch that something funny will happen.”
At lunch, Leila sat next to Charlotte. “You look tired, are you okay?” Leila asked.
‘Leila, I am tired of this. Let’s just work together!’
“Oh, I am just knitting for people.” Leila slammed her hand on her forehead. “I knew it!” She thought. That was her job! No one else’s but hers.
“This school has changed ...” Leila said to herself. “Uh- Charlotte?” Leila first said in a soft voice. “I say, crocheter vs knitter!”
Charlotte gasped but said, “You're on!”
With their yarn out, and everyone watching, they began. The theme was art. Leila made a sunset, and Charlotte made a rainbow.
It was a tie!
“Leila, I am tired of this. Let’s just work together!” Charlotte said. Leila agreed.
“And now meet the crochet and knitting club!” Leila shouted.
“We also have crochet and knitting art for sale!” Charlotte shouted too. Hundreds of people came. “Charlotte, I think this is the beginning of a lovely friendship,” said Leila.
