Ziaur Rahman earned his second consecutive victory in the Open Section of the Asian Continental Chess Championships as the Bangladesh Grandmaster defeated 2630 rated Indian GM Abhijit Gupta in the 2nd round on Friday. The tournament is held in Sharjah in United Arab Emirates.
Zia played with white pieces and used Trompowsky Attack and smashed Abhijit at 46 moves. Zia earned maximum two points after the end of 2nd round and shared lead in the points table along with other 6 players.
Meanwhile in the women’s section, WFM Nazrana Khan Eva lost to Shymgys Kyzy Aijarkyn of Kyrgyzstan.
