The five-day long Walton-BSJA Sports Carnival, organized for the members of the Bangladesh Sports Journalists Association, came to an end with a colorful closing ceremony in the capital Wednesday.
More than 50 members took part in a total of seven disciplines with 18 winners claiming an overall 40 medals from 11 events.
The champion, runners-up and third place finisher in each event were awarded medals and prize money with freelancer Mahbub Alam Khan finishing as the tournament best with two golds and as many silvers totaling 10 points.
BSJA president ATM Sayeeduzzaman and senior executive director of Walton Hi-Tech Industries FM Iqbal Anwar Don distributed prizes among the participants at National Handball Stadium.
Bangladesh Handball Federation general secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, Bangladesh Swimming Federation general secretary MB Saif, Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation vice president Khondokar Hasan Munir, tournament committee convenor Raihan Mahmuud and BSJA member secretary Mohammad Robiul Islam were present among others during the presentation ceremony.
Hosted by Raihan, the closing ceremony began with commemorative speech from BSJA general secretary Anisur Rahman, while Iqbal Anwar and Sayeeduzzaman also spoke on the occasion.
