The prize distribution ceremony of the Walton-BSJA Sports Carnival 2023 was held in the city’s Water Garden Center and Convention Hall Tuesday afternoon.
More than 50 members of Bangladesh Sports Journalists Association participated in the sports carnival.
The BSJA members took part in a total of 14 events across eight disciplines – archery, shooting, call bridge, badminton, table tennis, carrom, chess and swimming.
The champion, first runner-up and second runner-up received a trophy and prize money.
Walton executive director FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Don was present as the chief guest while cricket commentator Athar Ali Khan and chess Grandmaster Enamul Hossain Razib graced their presence as special guests.
Razib spoke on the occasion. The chess GM said, “The people who work behind the news are getting rewarded today. It is really a matter of joy. I’m happy to see them play and for their contribution to sports.”
Athar said, “Not only presentation ceremony, I also want to see them in action on the field. I want to cheer for them.”
In his speech, the chief guest said, “Walton has always been with sports, and shall continue to do so in future. Among the sports journalists who participated in the BSJA sports carnival, those who were victorious, I want to congratulate them. Those who have participated, I wish them well for next year.”
