16-year old gymnast Abu Sayeed Rafi clinched third spot in the juniors’ all-around event at Mikhail Voronin Cup 2020 in Russia Saturday.
The 27th edition of the international tournament in artistic gymnastics got underway in Penza City two days ago.
Rafi, accompanied by coach Dewan Nazrul Hossain, is the only athlete from Bangladesh to participate in the five-day long competition.
Last year, there were two but they are aged over junior level (U-18) now.

After Covid-19 pause, the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishthan athlete resumed training around one and a half months ago to get prepared for the sport’s first tournament abroad during the pandemic.
He is scheduled to take part in the individual apparatus events Sunday.
Apart from Bangladesh and host Russia, Georgia, Armenia and 17 different cities are participating in the competition which will conclude Monday.
