Border Guard Bangladesh and Bangladesh Ansar won the men’s and women’s categories respectively at the Victory Day Handball Competition, organised by Bangladesh Handball Federation and sponsored by Western Engeneering, Tuesday in Dhaka.
In the men’s final, BGB beat Bangladesh Police Club 32-9 after leading the first half 14-3. Taju Hossain of the winning side scored 10 goals while Mahbubul netted five.
In the women’s final, Ansar defeated BJMC 23-14 after leading the opening half 13-7. Ismat Ara of the victorious side notched six goals while Rupa bagged the same number of goals.
Taju was later named the best player while Ansar’s Alpana was adjudged the best player in the women’s event.
