The Unimed Unihealth First Division Basketball League got underway in Dhanmondi’s Wooden Floor Gymnasium Saturday.
The tournament has been organised by Bangladesh Basketball Federation and sponsored by Unimed Unihealth Pharmaceuticals. A total of seven teams are taking part in the competition – Bakshi Bazar Club, Old DOHS, The Shaons, Cantnians, Josephites, Wraith Club and Mohammadpur BC.
Prior to the inauguration of the tournament, a minute’s silence was observed in honour of Federation of International Basketball Association secterary general Pratrick Baumann, who passed away last month.
In the first game, Bakshi Bazar beat Wraith 51-25. Punno and Aritra scored 13 and nine points respectively for the winning side while Selian and Rakin caged nine and eight points accordingly for the losing side.
