Bangladesh National Basketball Championship 2025 concluded with a proud milestone for AIUB, as the team secured a well-deserved bronze medal in their first-ever appearance on the national stage.
This year’s championship featured a strong field of twelve teams divided into four groups, with the group stage held in Jessore.
The participating teams included AIUB, Brac University, BKSP, Jahangirnagar University, Daffodil International University, BUET, Chittagong DSA, Jessore DSA, Rajshahi DSA, Bangladesh Navy, and Bangladesh Air Force.
With competitive teams, the tournament showcased some of the finest basketball talent in the country.
AIUB advanced to the final round in Chittagong, where only six teams qualified: AIUB, Daffodil International University, Chittagong DSA, Rajshahi DSA, Bangladesh Navy, and Bangladesh Air Force.
Every match in the final round was closely contested. Bangladesh Navy secured first place, while AIUB and Bangladesh Air Force finished level on points for second. Based on the head-to-head result, Bangladesh Air Force moved to the final alongside Bangladesh Navy, placing AIUB in third position.
Earning the bronze medal in such a competitive lineup and in their debut appearance is a significant achievement for AIUB.
The team displayed discipline, character, and steady improvement throughout the tournament.
Following the championship, the AIUB Basketball Team presented the trophy to Dr Hasanul A Hasan, founder member of the Board of Trustees, AIUB, in the presence of Dr Carmen Z Lamagna, member of the Board of Trustees; Shania Abedin, member of the Board of Trustees; Prof Dr Saiful Islam, vice chancellor; Prof Dr Md Abdur Rahman, pro vice chancellor; Prof Dr Manzur H Khan, proctor; Major (Retd) Faiz-Ul-Bari Rajon, deputy director, Administration; and Md Joynal Abedin, coordinator, Office of Sports, AIUB.
They congratulated the team for their dedication, teamwork, and resilience, and expressed pride in their success.
They also reaffirmed AIUB’s commitment to supporting well-rounded development and excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities.
