Bangladesh hockey team suffered a 3-2 defeat against Sri Lanka in their second Pool B match of the Asian Games Qualifiers held in Bangkok, Thailand on Friday.
Both sides produced a thrilling and closely contested battle, showing intensity, attacking intent, and determination from the opening whistle.
Sri Lanka made a strong start and carried a narrow lead into the break, but Bangladesh responded well in the second half with sustained pressure and dangerous attacking moves to keep the contest alive.
The match remained finely balanced throughout, with both teams creating chances and pushing hard in search of crucial goals.
In the decisive moments, Sri Lanka showed composure under pressure and capitalized on their opportunities to edge out a hard-fought 3-2 victory, capping off an entertaining encounter filled with momentum shifts and standout performances.
Ashraful Islam and Aminul Islam scored one goal each for Bangladesh in the 13th and 49th minute respectively.
Bangladesh pitted in Pool B along with Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei and Uzbekistan. They will play their last group match against Uzbekistan on Monday.
Earlier on Thursday, Bangladesh beat Chinese Taipei by 4-3 in their opening match.
The top six teams from the competition will qualify for the Asian Games.
The 2026 Asian Games, also known as 20th Asian Games, will be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan from the next September 19 to October 4.
