A brace from Wahed Ahmed helped Mohammedan SC to recover from a two-goal deficit and earn a last-gasp 2-2 draw against Team BJMC in the Nitol-Tata Bangladesh Premier Football League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
In-form national striker Wahed rescued the Black and Whites from sure defeat after midfielder Md Shapon and young striker Nabib Nawaj Jibon scored one apiece to give BJMC a 2-0 lead.
Mohammedan started the game without star striker Zahid Hasan Emily who was suspended for receiving three yellow cards previously.
The popular Motijheel outfit lost their rhythm at the heart of midfield as Shapon cashed in and put BJMC ahead in the 26th minute tapping home a cross from Ismael Bangoura.
Jibon doubled the lead in the 56th minute after a slip by the opposition defence. Nigerian midfielder Samson Illiasu snatched the ball from Mohammedan defender Henry Felix and passed it to an unmarked Jibon who slotted past Mamun Khan from the edge of the box.
Wahed pulled one back for the Black and Whites from a rebounder at the hour mark after Ariful’s cross from the right side hit the sidebar.
Wahed netted his second in the 93rd minute to take his goal tally to 11 in the season, heading home a corner from Manik.
Mohammedan remained at third position with 36 points from 21 matches while BJMC are seventh with 21 points from the same number of games.
