Uttar Baridhara registered their second victory in the Nitol-Tata Bangladesh Premier League besides also taking revenge for their first-phase defeat in style after outclassing Team BJMC 3-0 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday.
Kenyan striker Collins Tiego put Uttar Baridhara ahead in the beginning stages of the game before debutant Indian forward Faiz Alam and Sujon Biswas added two more in the second-half to complete the scoreline.
It was newly-promoted Uttar Baridhara’s second win in 13 top-flight matches with their maiden win
arriving against Brothers Union on January 24. BJMC, coming into the game after defeating Mohammedan SC in their previous match, earlier thrashed Uttar Baridhara 7-0 in the first-phase which is still the second biggest margin of victory in the league this season.
With the victory, the Baridhara outfit leapfrogged Chittagong Abahani and Feni Soccer Club to eighth place with 10 points while BJMC remained at seventh with 15 points.
Uttar Baridhara went ahead with just four minutes into the game through Collins Tiego. Nazrul Islam Sumon delivered a long cross from the right flank which found the unmarked Kenyan striker who made no mistake heading the ball into an empty net from the middle of the box.
Faiz Alam, making his Bangladesh Premier League debut, had the opportunity of doubling Uttar Baridhara’s lead in the 14th minute when the Indian forward hit the
side-bar after receiving a through pass from Collins Tiego. Collins Tiego squandered a chance to score his second in the 23rd minute when his effort off Sujon Biswas’ cross flew over the crosspiece.
Guinean striker Ismael Bangoura had two opportunities to restore parity in two quickfire minutes. After firing over the bar from close range in the 32nd minute, Bangoura did the same two minutes later from just outside the six–yard box.
Two minutes later, Abdullah Al Parvez, BJMC’s hero from the last match, saw his powerful strike from inside the box saved superbly by Uttar Baridhara goalkeeper Osman Gani.
Faiz failed to receive a cross from Collins in front of an empty net six minutes after resumption.
Four minutes later, Mahadi Hasan Tapu shot over the bar after a backheel assist by Kanon.
Faiz Alam seemed to have rectified his earlier mistakes by doubling Uttar Baridhara’s lead in the 66th
minute. The Indian forward slotted home past BJMC custodian Hemel after a low cross delivered by Khalekur Jamen.
Sujon Biswas sealed victory by extending the lead to 3-0 in the 87th minute. Collins’ initial header was blocked by BJMC keeper Hemel before Sujon placed the ball into the far post after a rebound fell kindly at his feet.
