Mohammedan Sporting Club’s winger Jahid Hossain was ruled out of the Bangladesh squad yesterday for their Fifa friendly against India due to a hamstring injury he picked up during their last league match earlier this month.
A total of 27 players attended the second day of the training camp yesterday under the national team’s Dutch head coach Lodewijk de Kruif ahead of the friendly scheduled on March 5 in Goa, India. Kruif will announce his final 20-member squad a day before leaving for India on March 2.
Meanwhile, five out of six Mohammedan players, who submitted the answer to their show-cause notice on Wednesday for not attending the camp on the first day, joined the camp except Jahid who was given at least ten days rest to recover from the injury. The national forward suffered the injury in Mohammedan’s last league match against Feni Soccer Club on February 8.
Kruif admitted that they will miss the presence of Jahid in India and said, “Jahid has the ability to win a game. He has pace, he can take long-range shots and could provide defence splitting pass. No coach wants to lose such a player.”
