Golam Rabbani Choton, who guided Bangladesh to the SAFF Women's Championship title last year, has decided to quit the job as head coach of the national women's team.
“I'm leaving. I need rest. I'm here until May 31, and then I will not be with the women's football team anymore,” Choton told Dhaka Tribune Friday after earlier talking about the sudden retirement of national striker Sirat Jahan Shopna on the same day.
Choton, who has been the head coach of the senior national team and different youth national sides since 2009, said he would inform the decision to Bangladesh Football Federation within three days.
When asked why he is leaving the national team, he replied, “It's been a hectic schedule in the last seven-eight years. It's like inhumane labor. I had to sacrifice personal life, friends and family life and worked from dawn to dusk. There has been excessive pressure. Now I need mental and physical rest.”
The 54-year old coach said he will return to coaching after taking rest for a few days.
