Bangladesh Football Federation has suspended Abu Nayeem Shohag for lifetime after he was banned by world football's governing body Fifa for two years as general secretary of the federation last Friday.
The executive committee of BFF took the decision at an emergency meeting at BFF House Monday.
“As our general secretary [Shohag] got banned for two years, we have decided that he will never work for the federation again,” BFF's senior vice president Abdus Salam Murshedy told reporters after the meeting.
Murshedy also informed that they are going to appoint Imran Hossain Tushar, the personal secretary of BFF president Kazi Salahuddin and also chief protocol officer, as acting general secretary.
“As we have ongoing operations like federation's activities and tournaments are also taking place, so we will appoint an acting general secretary,” said Murshedy.
“We will be giving Tushar the responsibility of acting general secretary for three months or highest six months. We will follow the procedure to appoint a permanent general secretary,” he added.
Earlier, Fifa handed Shohag a two-year ban due to forgery and falsification of documents to justify the payments made by the BFF with Fifa funds.
