Following a long hiatus, the Bangladesh cricket team will start their practice camp at the end of this month after the selectors submitted a 22-member squad yesterday for the upcoming ODI series against India. The squad is expected to be announced today.
The Tigers’ new coach Chandika Hathurusingha will be arriving in Bangladesh on June 10 and is expected to take over the national team’s charge from June 13. However, the fitness, skill and conditioning camp will be starting before the head coach’s arrival.
In Hathurusingha’s absence, a local coach will oversee the camp. However, the identity of the coach was yet to be determined. Bangladesh Cricket Board cricket operations committee chairman Akram Khan though informed that former national coach Sarwar Imran will be given the responsibility.
Apart from Imran, the other local coaches are passing a busy time as Mizanur Rahman Babul is now working with the Bangladesh A team in the West Indies while Sohel Islam is engaged with the Bangladesh Under-19 side for the home series against the Maddhya Pradesh Under-19 side.
While the selectors have already submitted the preliminary squad, it was learned that there was no big surprises although the BCB boss had announced after the poor performance by the Tigers earlier this year that there will be huge changes in the side.
