Sabbir fined 30 percent of match fee

Bangladesh batsman Sabbir Rahman has been fined 30 percent of his match fee for breaching Level 1 of the International Cricket Council's Code of Conduct during their first ODI against Afghanistan in Mirpur on Sunday. Sabbir also received two demerit points for his actions. Following a drinks break during Afghanistan's innings, Sabbir was found guilty of questioning one of umpire Sharfuddoula Saikat's leg-before wicket decisions and made offensive comments. According to an ICC press release, Sabbir was found to have breached Article 2.1.4 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an international match. Over the next two years, if Sabbir garners four or more demerit points, it will be converted into two suspension points. Two suspension points equal a ban from one Test match or two ODIs or two T20Is.
