Bangladesh Emerging Team clinch one-day series

Bangladesh Emerging Team won the second and third game comfortably, while the first match was abandoned as one of the players was found Covid-19 positive initially

Bangladesh Emerging Team defeated Ireland Wolves comprehensively by eight-wicket margin and sealed the five-match unofficial ODI series 3-0 following the fourth game at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Friday.

The home side won the toss and elected to bowl first. 

Bangladesh Emerging Team bowlers bowled well and kept their line and length tight as Ireland Wolves managed to score only 182 runs losing all of their wickets in 46.2 overs.

Bangladesh Emerging Team pacer duo Sumon Khan and Mukidul Islam Mugdho bowled well in their opening spells as Ireland Wolves lost four wickets within the first 15 overs.

Sumon picked up four wickets conceding 31 runs while Mugdho took two giving away 29 runs in nine overs.

Rakibul Hasan and Saif Hasan bagged a couple of wickets each as well for the hosts.

Hosts defeated the visitors by six wickets and lead the series 2-0

Mark Adair was the top-scorer for Ireland Wolves with 40 while Ruhan Pretorius (35) and Graham Hume (29) scored some crucial runs in the lower middle-order.

In reply, Bangladesh lost opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim (two) early as the left hander was bowled by Peter Chase in the first ball of the fourth over.

Chase brought Ireland back into the game for a brief moment as he took the wicket of No 3 batsman Yasir Ali in that same over.

Yasir got out scoring two facing five deliveries.

Captain Saif, who scored a century in the last game opening the batting, did not come out to bat even after his side lost two wickets as Towhid Hridoy arrived to the crease as the No 4 batsman.

Mahmudul Hasan Joy, the other opener who was unbeaten at the opposite end, and Hridoy then stedied the ship for Bangladesh Emergint Team and played watchfully in the next few overs.

Later these two started played shots all over the ground and formed an unbeaten 176-run partnership for the fourth wicket to complete a commanding win for Bangladesh Emerging Team.

Bangladesh Emerging Team reached their target in 41.3 overs and sealed the series eventually.

Joy was unbeaten on 80 from 135 deliveries with eight boundaries. 

Hridoy was more attacking as he was not out on 88 off 97 deliveries, striking nine boundaries.
