Bangladesh U-19 cricket team created history Thursday, progressing to the final of the U-19 World Cup for the very first time in history, after beating New Zealand by six wickets in the second semi-final at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom.

After advancing to the grand finale of the age-level competition for the first time in 13 attempts, the junior Tigers will now be up against mighty India, the four-time winner, at the same venue Sunday.

Bangladesh captain Akbar Ali said although they are under no illusions about the tough task facing them, they are not taking pressure upon themselves.

“We will play it as a normal game. We can't take the pressure of thinking that this is our first final. India are a very good side, and we have to play our 'A' game. We have to do the best in all three departments,” said Akbar following the win over the young Kiwis.

Akbar also urged their fans back home in Bangladesh to keep supporting them from afar.

“Bangladeshi cricket fans are crazy, and I hope we will continue to get the same support that we've been getting. Keep supporting us," said Akbar.
