Bangladesh paceman Mustafizur Rahman returned home on Wednesday after playing just a single game for IPL T20 franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad this season.
The left-arm seamer will depart for England on Friday, along with Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan, to join the Bangladesh team, ahead of the tri-nation series in Ireland, starting next Friday. The tri-series, also involving New Zealand, will be followed by the 2017 Champions Trophy, beginning on June 1 in England.
Mustafizur did not enjoy the best of times in the IPL this year. His performances paled in comparison to those of last season where he was adjudged the Emerging Player of the Tournament.
The 21-year old played his only game against Mumbai Indians and was largely biteless, giving away 34 runs without success from his 2.4 overs.
Mustafizur however, did not read too much into that expensive display, instead saying the conditions in Ireland and England will benefit the faster bowlers and that he will try to learn more going forward, much like the recent times.
“The eight foreign players in our side this season were all good. In the IPL, there is only four spots in the playing XI. So this season I didn’t get that many opportunities. I always try to learn. I will always have confidence in me. The wickets and conditions in England are different and I will try to give my best. Although I didn’t get many opportunities to play in the IPL, I continued my training,” Mustafizur told the media in Mirpur on Thursday.
“We still have some time before the Champions Trophy to adapt to the conditions. And we will play in Ireland before that. Overall, I will get enough time to prepare myself. I hope I can do something good for my team,” he said.
