Mosaddek century gives Central Zone a chance at victory

Mosaddek Hossain’s century was the highlight for Central Zone in the third day of the second round match in Bangladesh Cricket League as they are nine wickets away from victory against North Zone after Shaheed Chandu stadium, Bogra, on Friday.

Starting the day at 50/3, Central Zone soon lost two more wickets – Taibur Rahman for six and overnight opener Najmul Hossain Shanto for 42 – to be pegged back at 94/5. From there, two substantial partnerships- one between Shuvagata Hom (45) and Mosaddek Hossain before the other between Mosaddek and Mosharraf Hossain (54) took the score close to 300. 

Mosaddek eventually got out when the score was 288/7 after making 104 runs from 160 deliveries when he was bowled by in-form pacer Ebadat Hossain. Central Zone eventually scored 318 runs to give a challenging target of 284 runs to North Zone in the fourth innings. Ebadat was once again among the wickets after six in the first innings, and took 4/88 to finish with match figures of 10/139. Mohor Sheikh was the highest wicket-taker in the day with 5/69.
