“Our chairman Nazmul Hasan told us to complete the main cricket leagues like DPL within the cricket season. Last week, we had a target of starting the league in January or at the beginning of February. But we have shortage of grounds. The National Cricket League has finished now. And we want to start the Bangladesh Cricket League rounds (three) from Monday and it will end within January 24. So the players by choice draft will be held on January 20 for the DPL. And the premier league will start on February 5,” said Kazi Inam to the media. This year, the premier league clubs can retain five players from last year. Clubs also have to clear at least 50% payment before the beginning of the premier league. “Each club can retain five players and the names of the retained players should be submitted by the clubs by the given deadline ahead of the draft. There is always concern from the players of regular payment so we have decided that clubs will need to pay 50% of the remuneration to the retained players ahead of the draft. If any club fail, that player cannot be retained and has to go to the draft,” Kazi Inam explained.

“And those players who get picked for the draft will have to be paid 50% of the remuneration within the given deadline ahead of the start of the tournament, 25% of the fee will have to be paid within the tournament and the remaining 25% will be paid after the end of the tournament. “We have discussed it with the clubs. All clubs are fine with the decision as they believe retaining five players may provide continuity in their squad,” he said. Twelve top players will be separated and placed in the player draft. “And we also discussed about not retaining 12 top players from A+ and A category. We will make a list of those 12 players soon and will publish it within next week. So 12 players will be in the draft and those players will be mainly from A+ and A category. There may be difference in price among those 12 players, but players will not choose the club. All players will have the right to choose the players from the draft,” he concluded.
