Mustafizur, Ebadat recovering well

Update : 04 Dec 2016, 09:07 PM
Bangladesh pace bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman is recovering fast after his shoulder surgery, informed Bangladesh Cricket Board’s chief physician Dr Debashish Chowdhury. According to Dr Debashish, the left-arm paceman is currently bowling at 80-90 percent of his ability, similarly to fellow injured pacer Ebadat Hossain. Both the pacemen trained under the supervision of national team trainer Mario Villavaryan on Sunday and are expected to join the Tigers' preparatory training camp in Australia. “Mustafizur and Ebadat bowled with 80-90 percent intensity. Our trainer is very happy with the progress and the good news is both the bowlers were able to bowl in two spells. They bowled with 80-90 percent of their ability without any difficulty whatsoever,” Dr Debashish told the media. “If they can bowl with their 80-90 percent intensity, it means they have achieved the desired fitness level. They have achieved the goal. We have only a few days left in our hand. We will have gym and net session. And after that, the selectors will think about the New Zealand series,” he said. The Bangladesh squad will travel to Australia divided into two groups. The first group are expected to leave this Friday while the next batch will depart a day later. The Tigers will train in Sydney down under till December 18 following which they will fly off to New Zealand. And Dr Debashish is of the opinion that both Mustafizur and Ebadat can join the squad in Sydney and practise together. “As they were able to bowl with 80-90 percent intensity, we can say they are capable of doing the drills. Both the bowlers can follow the same training activities like the others,” he said. Dr Debashish added that paceman Mohammad Shahid, who injured his right knee while playing for Dhaka Dynamites during the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20's fourth edition, is also recovering well. “Shahid incurred the injury last week. We have examined his ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) injury and at the moment, the condition of his knee has improved than before. He has passed some of our tests. But in this condition, he still needs to take rest for another week. After two-three days, we will examine him again. Then we can tell about the further measures for him,” concluded Dr Debashish.
