Dhaka Dynamites v Rangpur RidersLewis storm hits SBNSThe left-handed West Indies opening batsman Evin Lewis replaced Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara in the Dhaka playing XI against Rangpur. And the Windies cricketer made his mark straightaway in the ongoing fourth edition of the Bangladesh Premier League Twenty20 by playing an explosive 75-run innings. He smashed eight sixes during his blistering knock. Rangpur’s Sohag Gazi has had a productive campaign thus far, opening the bowling regularly and checking the opposition’s run-rate with his off-spin. But Lewis attacked the off-spinner rightaway for three sixers. He also struck three maximums against Pakistan leg-spinner Shahid Afridi in the seventh over. Lewis eventually got out in the 12th over off the bowling of seamer Soumya Sarkar but not before causing some serious damage.

Rangpur's Soumya Sarkar makes his way to the dressing room following his dismissal
DHAKA TRIBUNEOpener Soumya demoted to No 7Dashing left-handed opener Soumya has been struggling with the bat in the last few months and continued his poor form for Rangpur in BPL 4 as well. His run-drought continued against Dhaka as he scored only one. Interestingly, he was demoted to No 7 in the batting order to regain some confidence but it did not click for Soumya. This time around, he was caught short of the crease in the last ball of the ninth over. Soumya pushed a delivery from Dhaka leg-spinner Seekkuge Prasanna to backward point and called for a quick single. However, the Satkhira lad was unable to reach the crease in time. Dhaka paceman Abu Jayed threw directly at the wicket-keeper's end and Soumya departed for just one run. With that said, Soumya was successful with the ball as he took two wickets – that of Dhaka openers Lewis and Mehedi Maruf- conceding 27 runs in his three overs.
Comilla Victorians v Rajshahi Kings
Rajshahi Kings fans went berserk as their Kiwi all-rounder James Franklin smashed Comilla Victorians paceman Shahadat Hossain all over the park
DHAKA TRIBUNEFranklin’s last-over assaultThere was hardly any excitement during Rajshahi's innings against defending champion Comilla, with the exception of the last over of course. Former New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin, playing his first game this season, smashed 24 runs in their 20th over, bowled by paceman Shahadat Hossain. Rajshahi scored just 100 runs heading into the final over and Franklin duly shifted the gear, striking a huge six over the mid-wicket region off the very first ball to start off proceedings. He ended up smashing three sixes and two fours as Rajshahi managed to post 124/7 from their stipulated 20 overs. Shahadat, playing his second match of the tournament, ended up giving away 41 runs from his four overs.
