Bangladeshi swimmers won four medals at the World Long Distance Swimming Championship 2026 in Murshidabad, India, on Sunday.
Bangladesh secured one gold, two silver and one bronze medal at the competition.
The competition featured three events: the 19km men’s, 19km women’s and 81km men’s events. A total of 28 swimmers competed in the 81km men’s event, 36 in the 19km men’s event and 15 in the 19km women’s event.
A total of nine swimmers from Bangladesh participated in the competition. Of them, 6 competed in the 19km events and 3 in the 81km event.
In the 19km men’s event, Bangladesh Army swimmer Faisal Ahmed won the gold medal, while Bangladesh Navy swimmer Sonia Akter won silver in the 19km women’s event.
In the 81km men’s event, Bangladesh Navy swimmer Palash Chowdhury won silver and Bangladesh Army swimmer Nur Islam won bronze.
