IGCC presents Tagore’s moonsoon melodies

Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC) has organised an evening of Rabindra sangeet titled “Borshar Gaan-e Rabindranath” at the Poet Sufia Kamal Auditorium of the Bangladesh National Museum on August 5 to mark the 76th death anniversary of the bard. Rabindra Sangeet artists including Swati Sarker, Avik Deb and Sumaya Imam performed some of Tagore’s famous moonsoon melodies at the program. Their performances included songs like “Esho shyamolo sundoro,” “Badolo diner prothomo,” “E pothe ami je,” “Aji jhorojhoro mukhoro”, “Nishitho rater badolodhara,” “Nil anjonoghono,” “Shaono gogoney,” “Megher pore megh,” “Mono mor megher” and “Aji jhorer ratey.” Bimol Haolader on tabla, Sunil Sarker on keyboard, Gazi Abdul Hakim on flute and Prodip Karmoker on octopad, assisted the singers in their performances.
