“Sand City” directed by Mahde Hasan has won the Proxima Grand Prix at the KVIFF. The KVIFFs the largest film festival in the Czech Republic and the most prestigious such festival in Central and Eastern Europe.
This was announced on KVIFF’s social media page.
‘Sand City’ follows two characters Emma played by Victoria Chakma and Hasan played by Mostafa Monwar. The two characters are connected to each other through sand. Victoria hauls off sand for her cat’s litter while Hasan works at a glass plant.
The cinematography was done by Mathieu Giombini head of cinematography at La Fémis, giving the film an European arthouse aesthetic.
The film’s rights deal was negotiated by producer Aadnan Imtiaz Ahmed and Mai Meksawan of Diversion.
For Proxima Grand Prix the reward is 15,000USD(approx. 1,823,545BDT)
