Recently, Chorki organized a special screening of its produced movie 'Utshob' for entertainment journalists. Although the invited entertainment journalists appeared at the screening on the scheduled day, no seats were kept for them in the cinema hall. They had to return home feeling humiliated.
The Bangladesh Cine Journalists' Association (Bachsas) believes that such behavior by Chorki by inviting them has insulted and humiliated the entire entertainment journalist community. Bachsas strongly condemned and protested against such indecent and unethical behavior by 'Chorki'.
On Friday (June 20), Bachsas President Kamrul Hasan Darpan and General Secretary Rahat Saiful condemned and protested on behalf of the executive committee for such disrespectful and insulting behavior by the production company 'Chorki'.
In a statement, they said, "Since the inception of the country's cinema, film journalists have been working tirelessly for the development, growth and promotion of films. Bachsas has built bridges in the cultural arena including films. We are observing with concern that in recent times, the disrespectful and coercive behavior of some film production companies, producers, directors and artists towards entertainment journalists is creating obstacles for journalists to work independently, which is in no way desirable. We believe that filmmakers, producers, artists, technicians and journalists work as complements to each other to develop and advance the country's culture. In such a situation, mutual cooperative behavior is desirable. We hope that the indecent and insulting behavior that Chorki has done to journalists will not be repeated. We expect mutual cooperative behavior from everyone."
