Dhallywood actor Pori Moni has said she is not bothered by the criticisms and that she is not the type to remain silent, following the issuance of a warrant for her arrest.
On Sunday, a warrant for the arrest of Pori Moni was issued in connection with the Boat Club case. This incident sparked various discussions on social media, with some supporting Pori Moni, with others blaming her.
In a statement to the media, Pori Moni said: "I felt the need to bring this issue to light. Otherwise, it could slowly escalate. Now is the time to take action. Maybe if someone else were in my place, they would have stayed silent. But I cannot remain silent. I am not a silent girl. I must speak the truth. This is my country, my industry. Why should I not be able to work safely in my own country?"
Regarding the organization she works for, Pori Moni mentioned that it has not yet taken any formal steps on the matter.
She said: "The organization will take whatever steps it deems necessary, but I feel it is also my responsibility to protest. From a place of responsibility, I have spoken and posted on Facebook."
Regarding the arrest warrant issued the day after her protest, she expressed her pain, saying: "It is painful if an arrest warrant is issued just for protesting. How can a person stay silent? Whoever wants to stay silent, let them. But those who want to speak should be allowed to speak."
Notably, Pori Moni faced unexpected challenges that prevented her from attending an event in Tangail on Saturday.
