Actress Mehazabien Chowdhury's upcoming movie "Priyo Maloti" is set to be released in theatres on December 20. To promote the film, the actress went to TSC on Wednesday (December 17) afternoon. She put up posters on various walls there with her own hands. However, Mehazabien got into a controversial incident while putting up posters on the wall, for which she faced severe criticism on social media.

The actress put up posters over graffiti of Sohagi Jahan Tonu, a rape and murder victim in 2016. After this incident, Rifat Rashid, coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, asked Mehazabien to apologize to the countrymen in a Facebook status.

Later that evening, Mehazabien went to TSC and personally removed the movie poster pasted on the graffiti on the wall.

After this incident, Mehazabien apologized through a post on her verified social media Facebook. Mehazabien said in her post, “A team went to TSC today (December 17) to promote the movie ‘Priyo Maloti’. Many fans joined us in promoting the movie, due to huge crowd and unavoidable reasons, the postering campaign had to be ended quickly. By mistake and unplanned mismanagement, a poster was pasted over the graffiti of martyr Tonu. We all know the tragic incident of Tonu and the fight for justice for her murder is still ongoing. What happened regarding the postering was a completely unintentional mistake. We immediately removed those posters and stood and observed a minute of silence.”

She continued, "Our film, our struggle, and our core purpose is to fight for justice. This comes from our hearts. We hope you will forgive our unintentional inconsistency. Thank you for all your support."
