Popular villain actor Monowar Hossain Dipjol, who previously sought the Awami League nomination without success, has now re-entered the political scene under BNP's banner on Victory Day.
Dipjol extended greetings to his fans on Victory Day and released a poster with his message.
The poster prominently features the BNP logo above Dipjol's head, along with images of Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia, and Tarique Rahman.
This poster has sparked widespread criticism.
In the poster shared on Facebook, Dipjol introduced himself as a former Ward No 9 Councillor.
He also identified himself as an actor, producer, director, and prominent social worker.
Sharing the poster with his fans, the veteran actor wrote on his verified Facebook page: "December 16, the great Victory Day. I extend my deep respect to the heroic martyrs whose immense sacrifices brought us this independence. This history of victory is written with the blood of millions of martyrs. Let December always return with the message of freedom.”
Before the Awami League came to power in 2008, Dipjol was an active BNP worker.
He contested elections on BNP's behalf and served as a Ward Commissioner for Dhaka City Corporation.
Later, Dipjol began shifting his political allegiance.
In the lead-up to the 2018 elections, Dipjol publicly switched sides.
At the time, he bought the Awami League nomination form to contest for the Dhaka-14 (Mirpur) constituency in the 11th national parliamentary election.
Repeated attempts to reach Dipjol for comments regarding his Facebook post were unsuccessful.
His phone remained switched off, and he was unreachable on WhatsApp as well.
