Director Asif Islam’s upcoming film "Jatri" is set to star actress Jannatul Ferdous Oishee in the lead role.
Oishee came into the limelight as Miss World Bangladesh 2020. This news was announced by both Oishee and Asif. But the rest of the cast hasn’t been revealed yet.
Oishee said she first spoke with Asif six months ago. The storyline intrigued her to take on the role. The last project Oishee starred in was “Noor” with Arifin Shuvoo.
The director revealed that “Jatri” follows the story of love. He said it's a genre he hasn't explored before. He wrote the script years ago but never moved forward with it. What makes this story unique is the way it unfolds through two contrasting perspectives, he said.
Asif Islam made his directorial debut as a co-director of the film "Pathshala." And his recent film “Nirvana” has received critical acclaim, securing the Special Jury Award at the prestigious 46th Moscow International Film Festival.
