Raffan Imam has been in the music industry for over a decade. He has gifted several popular songs, gaining a unique acceptance among the country's young listeners. However, due to residing permanently in the US, he is rarely seen in concerts in Bangladesh.
Known in the music world as "Popeye," he performed at a concert in the country for the first time in March last year, although it was not his solo show. This time, there is an open opportunity for his fans. For the first time, "Popeye" will be performing a solo concert in Dhaka.
The concert, titled "Popeye—A Night to Remember," will be held on Friday at the Liberation War Museum Auditorium in Agargaon, Dhaka. The event is being organized by Eventholic.
Regarding the event, Raffan Imam (Popeye) said: "This is probably the last show of the year. I am not sure if I will be able to come to Bangladesh again this year. This solo show is special to us. I receive many song requests at concerts, but it is not possible to perform all the songs due to time constraints. This solo concert is different in that regard. We will have time to perform all the songs. Moreover, those who attend will come to listen to our songs, allowing for an exchange of feelings with them."
According to the organizers, there will be two types of tickets for the concert. General category tickets are priced at Tk899, and VIP tickets are Tk1,499. Tickets are available on Eventholic's website.
The audience can enter the venue from 4pm. Initially, there will be performances by two guest bands, "Lisan and the Blindmen" and "Frequency 2.0." After their short performances, Popeye will take the stage, and his performance will continue until 8:30pm.
Raffan Imam's nickname is Popeye. From there came his stage name "Popeye Bangladesh," which he refers to not as a band, but rather as a music project. His first solo album, "Amar Swarga," was released in 2010, followed by his second album, "Ja Ichche Ta," in 2015.
Popular songs by Popeye Bangladesh include "Neshar Bojha," "Tikto Shotto," "Bishonno Shundor," "Morron Iccha," and "Raater kotha."
Currently, "Popeye Bangladesh" includes Raffan Imam (vocals), Robi (drums), Shafat Ahmed Chowdhury (guitar), Talat Minhaz (guitar), Tansif (bass guitar), Promit (keyboard), and Rafi (manager).
