Jaya, Farin, Shohel dominate Filmfare Awards Bangla 2024

The Aupee Karim-Sohel Mondol starrer won seven Filmfare awards in total.

Popular actress Jaya Ahsan secured her fourth Joy Filmfare Award (Bangla) award on a historic night for Bangladeshi films. Jaya won Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Female) for "Ardhangini" while Tasina Farin and Sohel Mondol won two “black ladies,” among the five Bangladeshi artists who were nominated.  

The 7th Joy Filmfare Awards (Bangla) took place on March 29 in Kolkata. It was both Tasnia and Sohel’s first Filmfare award. Tasnia Farin won the Best Debut Actress award for the film "Aro Ek Prithibi". Shohel Mondol bagged the Best Debut Male category for his role in Indraneel Roy Chowdhury's "Mayar Jonjal". The Aupee Karim-Sohel Mondol starrer won seven Filmfare awards in total.

Jaya was also nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Female) for "Dawshom Awbotaar" while Tasnia had received another nomination in the Best Actress (Critics) category.

The other two Bangladeshi artistes who were nominated were Aupee Karim for "Mayar Jonjal" in the Best Actress (Critics) category and Mahtim Shakib in the music category, for Best Playback Singer (Male) for his rendition of "Tumi Jantei Paronaa" for the film "Cheeni-2".

The night was a testament to the popular and critical success of Bangladeshi artists in India.
