Even celebrities cast their votes. What mark have the celebrities have made in the twelfth parliamentary election? Are they thinking about the upcoming election?
As Jaya Ahsan has mentioned, she is reluctant to speak on political matters. Misha Sawdagor stated that during the election, he will be in the United States. On the other hand, Purnima takes a step forward, she mentioned that it seems she hasn't reached the voting age yet. Habib Wahid reveals that he has no experience of elections. However, few celebrities have shown interest in immersing themselves in the story of this election, and among them, one of the prominent ones is singer Ankhi Alamgir.
Mahmud Manjur: What is your reaction to the upcoming national parliamentary election?
Ankhi Alamgir: My reaction is positive. The day of this year's election (January 7) is my birthday. As a result, I have canceled all my shows and family arrangements. I have decided to spend the day of the election in joy and celebration.
MM: Which seat are you casting your vote for?
AA: I reside in Uttara. Probably in the Dhaka-18 constituency. I'm not certain about the seat number.
MM: Will you go to vote on January 7?
AA: I always cast my vote. I will do it this time as well. I won't take a car; I will take a rickshaw and go to the designated center to vote. For me, this matter is like the joy of Eid. I will go to vote, take a selfie, chat, and hopefully, it will be fun. Every year, I go to the polling center, take a selfie, and immediately upload it on Facebook. This time will be no exception.
MM: You have voted before; how was the experience?
AA: The experience of voting has always been great for me. Everyone just talks about whether they have voted or someone else has voted for them. But such a thing has never happened to me. Therefore, the experience is wonderful. Moreover, when I go to the center, everyone is happy to see me, takes pictures, takes care of me – these things feel well, actually. As a result, the voting experience for me is consistently positive.
MM: What kind of atmosphere do you want at the polling center as a voter this time?
AA: I want a festive atmosphere. I don't want an atmosphere of fear. I want the voters to come and enjoy the way I do, so I want that kind of environment.
MM: What are your expectations for your preferred candidate in this election?
AA: I hope that our candidate for Uttara will make it even more beautiful. Especially, they will quickly complete the road construction projects. That's my expectation. I don't want anything else.
MM: How many candidates are contesting in your area this time, and do you know them?
AA: Many are contesting. Personally, I don't know anyone. However, this time I have seen quite a few new faces. I am with the new faces. Let's see.
MM: Several celebrities are running for office this time. Do you have anything to say about them?
AA: I believe those who have become candidates will do well. I've seen on Facebook that they are campaigning very aggressively, which seems very positive. I hope they will be victorious. Best wishes to everyone.
MM: Do you have any future plans related to politics?
AA: Not yet. There are no such plans. Interest in this matter is quite low.
MM: As a celebrity, do you have anything to say to the voters?
AA: Voting is our civic right. I believe it is essential for everyone to vote.
