Artist Lutfa Mahmuda held exhibitions at the Bangladesh embassy of Tashkent and the Republican Specialized Art School in Uzbekistan.

The exhibition at the Bangladesh embassy of Tashkent, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was titled “Lily with no water”. The showing that displayed 15 works of art was held from April 30 to May 5.

The other exhibition at the Specialized Art School was held from May 10 to May 15, hosting more than 20 works of art. The opening ceremony of this exhibition was attended by the Chairman of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan, A. Nuriddinov, the Councilor at the Bangladesh Embassy of Tashkent, pedagogical team and students.

On her experience representing Bangladeshi art forms in Uzbekistan Lutfa Mahmuda states, “The art in the country is quite inspired by Islamic design. While taking a class at the Republican Specialized Art School I noticed their surprise at how much our art differs. Our art forms are quite new to them. Our art is quite conceptual while theirs is quite design and decoration based. Something else I was quite endeared by is how many of the general public came to take photos with me. It's something that happens in Bangladesh a lot, foreigners are quite admired. It was surprising to be on the other side of that. I was welcomed with open arms. The ambassador provided transportation and a translator to help with my time there.”

Her belief remains that the way economics are presented internationally, culture should be a focus as well. She states, “It's important that we represent our culture on an international scale. I always try to introduce culture in a way that is easy, so that it is more acceptable to the general public.”

The artist graduated from India's Visva-Bharati University. She has experimented with various mediums of art such as lithography on aluminium sheets. Her interest in art goes beyond specific mediums, focusing on the social aspects of life and it's influences on fine arts.
