Rasheduzzaman Rakib's YouTube channel RnaR has become a popular name on social media. It is difficult to find an internet user in Bangladesh who has not watched a single video of this channel on YouTube-Facebook.
His popularity is skyrocketing especially among the youth.
RnaR is basically a YouTube channel, also has a Facebook page with the same name. This channel presents funny movie review videos which is very popular with the audience.
RnaR's videos contain a wealth of data, analysis – which is of prime interest to moviegoers.
The creator of the videos Rasheduzzaman Rakib is one of the few YouTubers or content creators in the country who are at the peak of popularity. Rakib seems to have all the movie-related news, so Rakib is also known as "Cinemawala" to many people.
Rakib is a little different from the usual YouTubers in his personal life as well as in his exceptional presentation style and content in his videos.
Finding a job after completing education is the main goal of most of the youth in our country. Rakib is different there. A graduate and post graduate in Physics from Jagannath University, Rakib chose video production as a career instead of chasing a job.
In this regard, Rakib told Dhaka Tribune: “To be honest, I had the desire to do something with movies from a long time ago. But I was not sure how or what to do after the studies? Or how to join?”
“Meanwhile, at the end of graduation, I learned about YouTube content creators. After searching for a while, I thought that I can make content on YouTube with movies. After that, I prepared myself for a year and started creating content on YouTube,” he added.
The Youtuber further said: “I loved watching movies and talking about movies since my childhood. I used to tell the story of the movie jokingly to my friends. So naturally when deciding to create content on YouTube, movies came first in mind. I am not interested in anything else.”
From the abundance of information and analysis in Rakib's videos, it is easy to imagine that he puts a lot of effort into each piece of content.
Regarding how important practice is for YouTubers or content creators, he said: “It is important to know something yourself well and then let others know. So, you have to give time to know, then you have to take time to prepare and inform the audience.”
In his videos, Rakib praises good story and production style while also criticizing poor ones.
When asked about the reasons behind the overall lack of good films in the country and how relatively poor stories and productions are hurting the country's film industry, he said: “Good films are happening now. Change is coming. Bigger changes are ahead.”
“Weak story and production are hurting good movies in thick spots. People lose interest after watching bad movies and so they do not want to go to the cinema. The result is that even if a good movie is released later, it doesn't succeed as expected,” he added.
He advised to get out of the old style, to be modern in the story selection, to get away from the rigid structure and formula, to explore different people as well as to focus on promotion.
Addressing those who want to become professional YouTubers/content creators, Rasheduzzaman Rakib said: “It's great if you can create your own style. Be consistent with it. And above all, one must have a lot of patience. Don't be impatient if you want to take up content creation as a career. Success will come if you stick with it."
