Bangladeshi filmmaker, Fuad Chowdhury has begun work on his first full-length film titled “Meghnar Kanna”.
The shoot for the project is ongoing at Ulania Upazila, which surrounds the borders of Meghna River. Around, 90 percent of the shooting for the docu-fiction has been completed so far.
Fuad Chowdhury states with regard to this project, “I have come across many stories which cannot be told without a full-length film, Meghnar Kanna is one such story. I'm presenting a difficult topic such as human trafficking in front of an audience, so the story being told in a rural background allows for a relaxed setting. Meghnar Kanna is for viewers of all walks of life. I hope the audience can properly enjoy the film.”
The filmmaker has produced several acclaimed documentaries. One such project was “Merciless Mayhem – The Bangladesh Genocide through Pakistani Eyes”. This followed the 1971 Pakistani Army's massacre in Bangladesh through the perspective of Pakistanis. It was accepted as a unique documentation of the liberation war.
Another of Chowdhury's docu-fiction taking place in 1977 was screened by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during a National Parliament session.
