Bangladeshi Cinematographer Xoaher Musavvir won Best Cinematographer Award at the 5th edition of India's Zee Critics' Choice Awards for the film “The Silent Echo” on April 14.
The prestigious award was given to the Cinematographer during a grand award ceremony in Mumbai, India.
Musavvir said: “This recognition is so inspiring, especially coming from such esteemed critics in Pan-India. It's a validation of the power of collaboration and the importance of believing and taking that leap. I am humbled by this award, and I know that it's not just a recognition of my work, but also of the entire team who worked tirelessly to bring our vision to life.”
Produced in Bangladesh, India, Nepal and France, the 16-minute Oscar qualified short film “The Silent Echo” follows the lives of four reclusive children residing at a secluded mountain village in Nepal.
The Nepali language short film was directed by award-winning Indian filmmaker Suman Sen and shot in Nepal in 2021.
“The Silent Echo” brought home awards in the categories of Best Short Film and Best Cinematography. Suman Sen was nominated for Best Director. Aside from directing, the story of the film was also written by Sen and co-written by Bijon Imtiaz from Bangladesh.
Currently based in Stockholm, Prague and Dhaka, Xoaher Musavvir's notable films include “Bullets,” “Layla,” “Själakon,” “Jehanabad” and so on.
