Curtains Fall on the 14th edition of International Inter University Short Film Festival

The main event took place at the TSC, University of Dhaka, which included the award distribution ceremony along with the screenings of selected short films

The closing ceremony of the 14th International Inter-University Short Film Festival (IIUSFF), organized by Dhaka University Film Society was held on November 8 at Star Cineplex, Bashundhara City Shopping Complex.

 

A total of 1147 short films were submitted from 91 countries at the festival this year. Among which, selected 170 short films were screened in 5 different divisions of the country.

 

The main event took place at the TSC, University of Dhaka, which included the award distribution ceremony along with the screenings of selected short films. The Zahir Raihan Best Short Award was  given to the Turkish Film ‘Larva'. The Tareque Masud Best Emerging Award was won by Bijoy B Sarkar for the Bangladeshi short film, ‘The Last Moan'. 7 other films also received awards in different segments.

 

Renowned film critic and activist, Sadia Khalid Reeti; filmmaker and writer, Proshun Rahman, and independent filmmaker, Arifur Rahman were present at the closing ceremony. The director of ‘The Last Moan' were also present at the event. 

 

With the slogan, “Take your camera, frame your dream,” IIUSFF started its journey in 2007. The 14th edition of IIUSFF showcased ‘Putul Naach' or ‘Puppet Dance'— a traditional and ubiquitous storytelling form of entertainment.

 

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) was the festival partner for the 14th edition of this festival. Star Cineplex participated in the festival as the venue partner.
